The Fighter Tee – creating for a cause

One of my favorite things about the sewing community is how we come together in times of need and for great causes. So needless to say when Kelly from Handmade Boy asked me to test The Fighter Tee pattern I did not hesitate for a second.

Kelly created the pattern to support St Jude’s Children Research Hospital. 100% of the proceeds from the sale of the pattern will be donated to the hospital. Her goal is $1000 but I’m sure we can do better than that, right? 🙂

The Fighter Tee pattern has a relaxed fit, perfect for all those fun summer activities. It features cool side and sleeves colorblocking that will allow you to mix and match different prints. Just look how cool is the Backstitch Rock Paper Scissors print with some grey stripes!

You can make The Fighter Tee with cotton spandex, jersey or even rayon spandex like I did for this cool “pizza shirt” as my little guy calls it.

For the side and sleeve colorblocking I used this orange stars from Sweet N Charmed Fabric Mail. They went perfectly withe the orange vinyl iron on. Both the “You had me at Pizza”  and the “Nice is the New Cool” digital cut files are from Tread and Grain.

The design of the Fighter Tee allows you to use those custom fabric panels we all love so much! When Danielle from The Fabric Cottage sent me this awesome panels and fabric I knew they will become fighter tees for my boys. Preorder for this gorgeus fabric opens May 25th.

Want to take The Fighter Tee to the next level? How about adding a hood and some decorative stitching. I use the hood from the Love Notions Vanguard Kit and it worked great. A little reverse coverstitching and boom! A brand you look from the same pattern.

I hope I convinced you to grab the Fighter Tee now and start making cool shirt for your little ones! And remember…ALL proceeds go to an amazing cause! If you already have the pattern, or you don’t sew or you just want to give a little extra, here is the link to Kelly’s fundraiser for St Jude’s Children Research Hospital.
